While the Apocalypse and than the threat of the Leviathans kept Hunters busy another Supernatural threat slipped in from the background working towards its goal with very little resistance. Those who learned of the creatures plan fought it straight to the final battle and lost. On the eve of the Leviathan defeat the final battle raged and the Zombie Apocalypse was released on an unsuspecting world. People were warned, but no one believed. The virus started slowly with people getting sick, it was airborne going from the release point, New York City, to wherever the wind took it. Once caught the plague mutated and each person who had it became a carrier. It traveled like the common cold until finally a short few days later people began to die.

​Being reported wrong it left most people in the dark of what was really happening until it was practically knocking on their door. Those who survived the onslaught of the zombies think that is all they have to fear beside their uncertain future, but they will learn soon that there is more out there than just the living dead. When 98% of the human population is used as a sacrifice you can bet there is one hell of a force waiting in the background to finish the remainder.
